Lesson 1: Things to Consider When Planning a Website

Planning a web siteHi! This is Steve and I am going to talk you through the things to you need to know and consider when planning a website.

First: There is The Computer Language “Code” Which Tells the Computer What to Do

Websites are typically made using a coded language known as HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) and it is this language that allows for the basic structure of a website. This includes its headings and even the type of font that is used in a paragraph. Since the time that HTML alone was used, when the web was first devised, for website building, many more ways have been developed to help with planning a website, and make website development faster and easier.

You will hear talk of these such as php, Flash, Java, and more. When you are starting out with planning a website, you don’t need to find out about those. Just remember that they are other computer languages which your computer can use alongside html, and you will find out more about them as you come across them.

It is good that as a web site creator you take an interest in “coding”, but assume that you will be able to get started without knowing much more than that “html” exists. There are so many web site creation packages now that don’t require any knowledge of the inner workings of compter software, and do it all for you, that a lack of koowledge in that area planning a website should never hold anyone back from creating their own website.

We hope that you found this training video useful.
